The groups in-house PMC Company will manage the ISLE project. Impact Projects Pvt. Ltd., blazed into the social infrastructure arena in 2002 by getting one of Punjab's largest Housing Development Licenses in the Private Sector for its maiden development project, Garden Enclave, on the outskirts of the town of Amritsar (within Municipal limits). It has since developed 200 + acres of premium quality townships (Impact Gardens, Impact Estate, Garden Estate, Impact Park, Impact Enclave & Impact Greens) in Amritsar to cater to the needs and aspirations of the discerning home owners of Punjab. The conceptual master plan of ISLE has been developed by PRP (Pohl Rosa Pohl). PRP is the largest residential architecture practice in U.K. They are the leading practice in design and delivery of specialist housing for the elderly designing buildings which deal with various levels of care from independent living to full dementia care. They have designed many high end projects like Denham Garden Village accommodating 326 units consisting of Apartments and Villas. The campus has all modern facilities of modern life for people above 55 years. Over the last 40 year, PRP have also widened their range of services to become a major multi-disciplinary practice offering skills in architecture, master planning, urban design and landscape architecture. Nirman are the Indian architectural representatives of ISLE. Besides working closely with PRP to detail the conceptual drawings they lead the charge in India and provide local support to the project. Nirman is a Total Project Management organization, providing single window consulting including Architecture, Engineering, Interiors, Landscape & Planning. They serve diverse clientele through professional, committed and dedicated workforce. Their developing competence of human assets helps them to continuously adapt to ever-changing client requirements. SJS Consultants are engaged with ISLE for their first development in Amritsar to provide assistance with the local nuances of development in the state of Punjab. They were established in 1995 in Amritsar under the aegis of Architects SJS Behl and Jeena Singh, with the objective of evolving design solutions for the built environment, that are rooted in extensive research involving the analysis of Context, Program, Public realm, Appropriate Technologies, Economic Viability and Eco-Sustainability. In the present scenario, there is a growing need and awareness regarding the housing and service requirements for the senior citizens. "The number of such luxurious facilities for senior citizens already operating in the country is miniscule".
Earlier, in India, the trend was to keep the senior citizens with immediate or extended families. Even at old age, people did not have too much leisure time as they lived in joint families. Most of their time was taken up by household chores, looking after grandchildren, or community activities. The elderly usually spent their time by reading, watching TV, listening to music, domestic chores (if living as an independent unit), looking after grandchildren (if living in an extended family) or by simply relaxing.
With changing social scenario such as increasing nuclear families, children leaving old parents and going abroad for work, increasing ageing population, increased crimes targeting senior citizens, specialized healthcare needs due to lifestyle related diseases and a significant increase in free time in a senior citizen’s life, have escalated the need for a specialist product.
